M63 AI MDVR with Passenger Counting for a Central Asian Bus Project

Project Background

A public transportation customer in Central Asia required an integrated onboard monitoring system for its bus fleet.

The customer needed more than conventional video recording. The system had to monitor the driver, passenger compartment, vehicle doors and road conditions while also collecting passenger-counting data and supporting remote fleet management.

Based on the bus layout and operating requirements, ZIYANGXING developed a customized solution centered on the M63 8-channel AI MDVR.

Customer Requirements

The project required the system to provide:

Multi-channel video recording inside and outside the bus;

Passenger counting at the front and middle doors;

Driver behavior monitoring;

Driving-safety warnings;

4G remote video and GPS positioning;

Centralized fleet monitoring and dispatch;

Compatibility with passenger information displays.

ZIYANGXING Solution

The M63 was used as the core recording and management device. It supports up to eight video channels and can be expanded with IPC cameras according to the project configuration.

The complete onboard system included:

M63 8-channel AI MDVR;

Two AI passenger-counting cameras;

Three interior cameras;

One rear-view camera;

ADAS camera;

DMS camera;

10.1-inch dispatch monitor;

4G and GPS modules;

CMS fleet management platform;

Front, rear and interior LED route displays;

Onboard advertising monitor.

AI Passenger Counting

Dedicated AI cameras were installed above the front and middle doors.

The cameras detect passengers entering and leaving the bus and provide passenger-flow data for operational analysis. The detection areas can be adjusted according to the door width, installation height and interior layout of the vehicle.

This allows the transport operator to better understand passenger volumes across different vehicles, routes and operating periods.

Driver and Vehicle Safety

The system also integrated ADAS and DMS functions.

ADAS monitors road conditions and provides warnings for driving risks such as lane departure and possible forward collisions.

DMS monitors driver behavior and can provide alerts for fatigue, distraction, phone use, smoking and other unsafe actions.

Together with the interior and exterior cameras, these functions provide more complete protection for drivers, passengers and fleet operators.

Remote Fleet Management

Through 4G connectivity and the ZIYANGXING CMS platform, authorized operators can:

View live video remotely;

Track vehicle locations;

Search and play back recordings;

Check vehicle status;

Receive alarm notifications;

Review passenger-counting information;

Manage multiple buses from one platform.

Project Value

The solution combined video surveillance, passenger counting, driver-safety monitoring, GPS tracking and fleet dispatch within one integrated system.
